Our staff of licensed therapists is committed to truly making a difference in the lives of others every day. Our therapists are here to support and guide you to develop greater self-awareness, inner resources such as self-compassion and coping skills, and more conscious, close, connected, relationships.
I deeply honor the therapeutic relationship by maintaining the conditions for trust, integrity, and compassion. Through a person-centered approach, I keep a non-judgmental perspective, free of criticism. As we work together, I will assist you in exploring various means to move forward and “unstick” yourself. This drives us in a partnership that serves your personal goals and individualized plan of care. A Rational-Emotive Behavioral approach to treatment allows you to confront self-defeating thoughts and behaviors and find concrete means to amend your existing “framework” for how you view yourself, others, and the world.
I became a counseling for many reasons. In particular, my “rough go of it” early in life lead to me dropping out of high school and getting my “butt kicked by the real-world.” These unique first-hand experiences taught me the value of an education and the benefit of having positive influences and direction when navigating great personal change.
I earned my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Houston and an M.S. in Counseling from the University of Tennessee. I’ve worked as a high school counselor, in a community based mental-health treatment facility with youth and their families, and as a clinical therapist in an adult outpatient psychiatric hospital. Now I’m eager to work with you.
Hi there! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) therapist passionate about helping individuals navigate life's challenges with warmth and authenticity. With lived experiences of grief, the impacts of family chronic illness, and trauma, I chose this profession out of a desire to support others through their unique journeys. I have professional experience in the ICU, NICU, and psychiatric hospitals, which has equipped me to help you through the "tough stuff" life throws your way.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just plain stuck, you're not alone—and you don't have to go through it alone either. I work with adults, teens, couples and individuals and have experience managing depression, anxiety, family dysfunction, life transitions, perinatal and postpartum care, effects of chronic illness and disabilities, end-of-life issues, and grief. I'm also an advocate for issues affecting people of color and addressing racial trauma, while understanding the unique challenges faced by individuals and families in these contexts with a therapeutic lens.
My therapeutic approach is interactive and eclectic. I’m passionate about helping you navigate the ups and downs of life with particular regard to parenthood, dealing with the complexities of chronic illness, managing stress, relationship issues and various other life transitions.
Let's work together to navigate your path forward with compassion, empathy, and maybe even a bit of humor. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your mental health journey. Reach out today, because taking the first step is the start of something better.
